1727年，刚刚加入英国国籍的亨德尔被委托为乔治二世的加冕仪式写一套音乐。由于他很难预料到会有一个更雄伟的场合，所以作曲家充分利用这个机会，上演了一场空前辉煌的音乐盛宴。RIAS室内合唱团（RIAS Kammerchor）和柏林音乐厅室内乐团（The Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin）对这些华丽的作品进行了激动人心的演绎，其中的一些作品至今仍在每次新的加冕仪式上使用！
