20 世纪上半叶，大提琴是加泰罗尼亚音乐的重要组成部分。作为作曲家和大提琴演奏家，巴勃罗·卡萨尔斯（Pablo Casals）是加泰罗尼亚音乐的革命性力量，他的学生加斯帕尔·卡萨多（Gaspar Cassadó）与他一道，创作出了具有强烈传统意识和民族旋律色彩的优秀改编作品和表现力丰富的原创作品卡萨布兰卡斯的 《Cant per a Frederic Mompou ‘Remembrança’》向另一位伟大的朋友和同事致敬，而恩里克·格拉纳多斯（Enrique Granados）深情的《Madrigal》则与《Goyescas》等大提琴钢琴作品的改编曲相得益彰。
