Dua Lipa was born in London in 1995 to Bosnian-Kosovar parents who had left Pristina three years earlier, fleeing the war in Yugoslavia. She was interested in the performing arts from an early age, posting videos of herself on YouTube covering Pink, Christina Aguilera and Nelly Furtado. In 2013, she worked as a model and a waitress in a cocktail bar, until she was spotted by Warner in 2014. Her second single, Be the One, was the one that kickstarted her success: #1 in Belgium, Poland and Slovakia and top 10 in eleven European territories! Dua Lipa continued to climb the disco-pop charts with her self-titled debut album (2017), which revealed the singles New Rules, her first #1 in the UK, and One Kiss, featuring Calvin Harris. In 2018, Dua Lipa truly became a mega-star as virtually every track on her album Future Nostalgia became a huge hit: Break My Heart, Levitating, Don\’t Start Now, then Fever (with Belgian singer Angèle). Collaborations with Elton John and Megan Thee Stallion, followed by her participation in the Barbie film soundtrack, has now led to a third album, Radical Optimism, due for release in May 2024.
