莫扎特将旋律置于协奏曲的核心位置。在《第17号协奏曲》中,旋律一开始是内敛的,有时甚至是不确定的,但随后它被转化为鸟鸣——预示着帕帕盖诺的曲调——并引出了堪与歌剧水舞剧相媲美的终曲。在第22号协奏曲(与《费加罗的婚礼》同时期)中,它被赋予了威严的色彩,在作品的慢板中,它又带着一丝苦涩,然后又回到了更加欢快的旋律中,其中一个旋律将在《女人心(Così fan tutte)》中再次出现。歌剧和协奏曲从未如此接近。
