专辑简介

Fumiaki Miura and Nobuyuki Tsujii, both winners of the world-class competition in 2009, have since been very active internationally as leading artists in Japan. Their advanced technical skills and high level of musicality resonate with each other, resulting in the birth of a world-class young duo. This is their memorable duo debut recording of Franck and Brahms, which was made after numerous rehearsals and concerts together.

Fumiaki Miura, a violinist who was born to a musical family of violinist\’s parents, won the Hanover International Competition, said to be the world\’s most difficult, at the age of 16, in 2009. He is also a talented player who has gained popularity not only from core classics fans, but also played solos on the theme song of the NHK Taiga drama “Sanada Maru” in 2016. These two, who belong to the same record label and have co-starred many times, both celebrated the 10th anniversary of their competition victory, have released their first duo recording. The program comprises two serious works that are the royal road repertoire of the violin. It was said that the recording was done when they were in good condition on tours.

Franck\’s sonata, said to be the best masterpiece of French violin sonata, was proposed by Miura because he thought it would suit Tsujii. As expected by Miura, the soft and transparent tone of Tsujii\’s piano is alive from the start. Miura\’s violin sings gently and sometimes with a sensual atmosphere, and Tsujii\’s piano is played with the warmth of snuggling up close to it.

In Brahms\’ Sonata No. 1 “Rain Song”, the expression of the violin changes, full of joy with the enveloping piano. Brahms\’s passionate music is expressed with careful sound control by both. It is impressive that Tsujii\’s performance is more glittery than usual, as guided by Miura\’s violin. Including a refreshing yet dense feeling, this is an album with much to offer for listening .

\”The inclusion of the Brahms Violin Sonata No. 1 is apposite, as beguiling lyricism likewise permeates the score. Miura\’s warm, burnished tone is ideal for this music. The opening movement\’s gentle, bucolic charm is eloquently conveyed. The Adagio, which follows, is played with unfeigned sincerity and radiant fragility, and there\’s nobility of gesture in the passionate moments of the ‘Regenlied’ finale.\” (Stephen Greenbank, MusicWeb International)
