除了肖斯塔科维奇以外，作为20世纪最伟大的钢琴家之一的里赫特的演奏也收录其中。但是，里赫特并没有保留完整曲目的录音。作为补充，钢琴家埃米尔·吉列斯和塔蒂亚娜·尼古拉耶娃演奏的版本也被收录在内，组成了豪华阵容。这是一个非常值得收藏的版本，因为目前很多录音都无法获得。
有意思的是，三位表演者虽然神通广大，但表达方式却各不相同。 里赫特的学生梅尔尼科夫也曾推出过一张精彩的 \”24首前奏曲和赋格曲 \”的专辑，但里赫特音乐的艰巨性再次提醒我们，它是无人可以模仿的宝藏。
